Leadership teams at Love began to pursue a partnership with the South Dakota Department of Tourism after responding to a request for proposal in January 2022. An exhaustive proposal process included the development of creative materials, an ambitious consumer surveying project, and in-person presentations in both South Dakota and Utah.

In the end, it was Love’s commitment to data-driven consumer insights that won the folks from South Dakota over.

“As a team, we are committed to not being simple just for the sake of being simple,” said Love Communications Digital Marketing & Media Vice President Jonathan Smithgall. “We are willing to do the work and dig into what the numbers and data are telling us to make the best marketing decisions possible  We use data and insights to tell stories that others might miss. We are excited to apply our findings to a great relationship in South Dakota.”

Love’s contract with the South Dakota Department of Tourism will take effect on July 1, 2022. The South Dakota Department of Tourism is comprised of the Tourism and South Dakota Arts Council, led by Secretary James D. Hagen.
