Love Communications Honored At 2009 Racie Awards For Rc Willey Billboards

SALT LAKE CITY – March, 2009 – A series of billboards designed by Salt Lake City-based ad agency Love Communications for its RC Willey client were honored with the bronze award for the outdoor branding category at the 2009 Retail Advertising Conference (RAC).

The annual conference is the largest single gathering of retail marking and advertising executives in the industry. The 66th annual RACie awards were held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel last month.

Love Communications’ entry on behalf of RC Willey was one of a number of entries in the outdoor category. The RC Willey billboard tied for bronze with Kohl’s “Back to School Out Of Home” billboard. Blacktop Creative’s “Things and Stuff” billboard for Westlake Ace Hardware won the silver.

The RC Willey billboard that was recognized – featuring the headline, “Bring Your Pillow!” – was part of a concerted media campaign developed by Love Communications throughout the RC Willey markets in 2008. The billboards ran in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Sacramento and Reno.

“The RC Willey campaign has been a great experience for our agency,” said Preston Wood, Love Communications partner and creative director. “We’ve had a lot of fun branding a product centered on the brand’s spokesperson Paige Davis. It’s been gratifying to see the campaign do well not only creatively – but also in terms of sales and recognition.”

Wood and Love Communications account supervisor Aaron Evans oversaw development of the campaign. Wood also served as the campaign art director.

The agency, which reported capitalized billings of $30 million in 2008, currently employs 33 full-time staffers. The firm operates under the direction of partners Tom Love, Rich Love, Preston Wood and Alan Reighard.
